Fly Paper Products Literary Gift Company recently hosted ‘Name That Candle’ contest with their retailers in celebration of their 10-year anniversary. The contest, which started in July, gave the retailers three chances to have one of their clever ideas as the title of a new literary themed candle, and to win 12 free candles featuring the winning name.
The grand prize winner was announced on September 1st and awarded to Caitlin Moore, of Pear Street Books and Plants, located in Oklahoma City. Caitlin’s entry of ‘Indie Bookstore’ was chosen from hundreds of submissions. “We thought it perfectly encapsulated the community fostered by independent booksellers,” said FPP Wholesale Manager, Jess Tapley. The team at Fly Paper Products chose a fragrance blend of coco butter, cashmere, soft butter, honey, creamy sandalwood and vanilla for this special candle.
“Supporting Independent Booksellers has been one of our core missions at Fly Paper Products, and what better way than to host a fundraiser in their honor to benefit BINC, The Booksellers Independent Charitable Foundation,” said FPP Owner Hope Meadows. BINC helps the employees and owners of bookstores and comic shops with unforeseen emergency financial, medical, and mental health service needs.
Fly Paper Products will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the new ‘Indie Bookstore’ Candle and the fundraiser will go through April 27, 2024, which is also the ‘Independent Bookstore Day’.
"Binc is thrilled to be the recipient of a portion of the proceeds from the sale of a new Fly Paper Products candle, ‘Indie Bookstore’ in support of bookstores," said Binc Executive Director Pam French. "This generous donation will not only continue our work to strengthen the bookselling and comic retail community through charitable programs that support employees and their families but also raise awareness of the Foundation and the wide range of services available. I can't wait to purchase one."
